Associate Programme Manager, Agriculture
Main purpose of the role: Through farm based intervention ensure to increase the productivity of the marginalised community.
Land Management
- Ensure land development through different methods like bonding, levelling, tilling etc.
- Do diagnostic study of the land , ensure the land treatment and Increase land fertility
- Inform and educate the community on the soil pattern and treatment
Seed Management
- Establish seed bank in the community, leverage free seed from govt, build the capacity of the community to manage & store the seeds properly, ensure quality control of seeds and ensure seed treatment and management, ensure gender mainstreaming through this process.
Water Management
- Ensure flow irrigation by rain water management, building mini check dams and by innovative way of keeping rain water for irrigation purposes
- Ensure micro irrigation by manually creating lift irrigation facilities by doing canal ect. in the community
- Inform & educate community on different crop cycles and adoption of variety of crops
Crop Management
- Educate the farmers on crop selection, diversification and mixed cropping
- Revive the old method of cultivation by creating nutritional garden
- Ensure crop planning for the community
Interface Management
- Establish network among farmers, farmer federation
- Collaborate and Exchange ideas among farmers and build solidarity among them
- Establish linkage with different govt offices, research agencies and other institutions working on agriculture
- Create scope to Interface between the external agencies
Risk Management
- Create facility for insurance, ensure credit management to overcome the crop loss due to disaster
- Ensure integrated nutritional soil management
- Establish linkage with Micro Finance Institutions
Research & Advocacy
- Do research on land reform, land right and land mutation
- Educate community to advocate for their rights
Establish Linkage
- Establish linkage with agro based industries
- Establish linkage with market
- Create facility for contract farming linkage
General Roles & Responsibility:
- To be aware of and abide by policies, procedures and systems of CYSD
- To be involved in the activities of CYSD when required
- To report, if necessary, any breaches of procedures or fraud
- To be a proactive member of CYSD and advocate wherever possible for its work
- To undertake any other duties as and when required dependent on Org’s need
Education Qualifications
- Graduate/Post Graduation in Agriculture or related discipline
Experience
- Minimum 5 yrs relevant work experience in Development Sector,
- Understanding on different Social issues
- Budget control & Program implementation skill
- Representing org. at different levels
- Minimum computer knowledge
Competences
- Report & case study writing skill
- Good rapport building skill and ability to influence other
- Ability to work to deadlines and plan
Other requirements Relevant for the Post
- Willingness to travel to project locations
- Willingness to work in remote pockets
