Launches Blueprint for Climate-Resilient Development

On May 15, 2026, Odisha marked a turning point in its climate action journey with the launch of the OVC 2025 Report titled "Pathways to Climate-Resilient and People-Centric Development." Brought together by the Odisha Development Initiative, 50+ collaborative partners convened to advance a shared vision of a Resilient Odisha by 2036. The event unveiled two critical infrastructure pieces: The Odisha Data Portal providing disaggregated population and development data at the district level, and the foundation for a new Climate Change and Just Transition coalition.

The collective recognized an urgent truth: climate change transcends environmental boundaries. It directly impacts livelihoods, drives migration patterns, and shapes health, education, and local economies across communities. This realization sparked a commitment to bridge the gap between policy frameworks and ground-level realities, ensuring that climate action reflects vulnerable and marginalized communities' lived experiences.

Moving forward, the coalition will establish a unified climate and vulnerability data pool merging community insights with government databases. Members will rigorously examine policies through equity lenses, strengthen understanding of climate impacts on ecosystems and livelihoods, and build partner capacities through collaborative learning. The message is clear: meaningful resilience emerges not from isolated efforts but from shared knowledge, collective responsibility, and grounded action rooted in people's voices.
